Barb Dwyer is at it again...

Have you ever heard the expression to coin a phrase used when someone really has invented a novel phrase?  I am no longer a young woman but not once, in my entire life, have I ever heard to coin a phrase used in this fashion.  In every instance it could more accurately be replaced with to repeat a tired old cliché

Well, to coin a phrase, it sounds like somebody got up on the wrong side of bed this morning.
